Abstract:
The collision between a ship or a vehicle and a bridge structure is a complex dynamic process, and the impact load pattern of collision generally is a semi-sinusoidal distribution.Given the extensive application of long-term health monitoring systems in major structures,it is an urgent problem to identify the impact load using only the dynamic response of structures, the key to which is to find the relationship between the impact load and the dynamic response.Taking a beam subjected to half-sine impact as a mechanical model, the dynamic response of the beam is obtained based on the modal superposition method and Duhamel's integral, and the correlation between the peak dynamic response of the structure and the peak impact load is constructed. The results show that there is a linear relationship between the peak response and the peak impact load, and that this linear relationship is independent of the impact duration and the location of structural response, which is further verified by the beam tested at different impact forces. Therefore,if the peak dynamic response of a structure is known at two or more different locations, the peak impact load can be determined using the linear relationship between the peak response and the peak impact load. The method does not involve complicated theoretical calculations of dynamic inverse dynamic problems and enables the identification of impact loads in the event of accidental impact of a structure.
