Abstract:
In this paper, the seismic damping mechanism of a high-efficiency energy-consuming friction damper (HFD) is studied.Based on the mechanics principle, the variation law of the frictional damping force amplification coefficient of the HFD under seismic action is analyzed, and the equivalent damping ratio of the structure with HFDs is derived. On this basis, the seismic response analyses of frame structures with conventional friction dampers and with the HFDs are carried out respectively, which shows that the HFDs can significantly reduce the seismic response of the structures by amplifying the smaller frictional damping force, and have good damping effect. The seismic displacement response amplitude of the structures is obtained according to the equivalent damping ratio given in this paper, and the error does not exceed 10% compared with that of the structures with HFDs.
