Abstract:
A modal analysis strategy of bending and torsion of a composite beam with concentrated masses based on the assumed mode method is proposed to improve the flutter speed of a straight and high aspect ratio wing with external stores.Combined with the strip theory, the effects of external stores’ different mass and layout on the flutter characteristics of the wing are investigated.Firstly, the structural dynamic model of a high aspect ratio wing with external stores is constructed based on the bending and torsion theroy of composite beams. Its bending and torsion modes are obtained by using the assumed mode method.Secondly, the finite strip theory are introduced to approximately calculate the aerodynamic force of the wing with finite span. Then the influence laws of external stores on flutter characteristics of the wing are obtained by adjusting the mass, the numbers and the relative positions of these external stores. Finally,a flutter speed recovery method is explored and an optimization problem is proposed. This method takes advantage of a way to increase flutter speed by suspending a small-mass external store near the leading edge of the wing so that the flutter speed of the wing with external stores is basically the same as that of the wing without the stores. The results show that the flutter mode can jump from one mode to others owing to different ways of external store suspension. When the main flutter mode is about pitch the original flutter speed can be recovered by adjusting the position of the external stores.
