Abstract:
In order to evaluate the importance of the components in a structure, the modulus of elasticity of the material was taken as a basic sensitivity parameter to cover the influence of the change of the component stiffness on the structure, then two indexes were established to measure the redundancy and the vulnerability of the structural component based on the sensitivity of the component strain energy to the modulus of elasticity, and the importance coefficient of the component was defined as the ratio of the vulnerability to the redundancy, which reflects the component fragility to structural damage and its failure effect on the structural performance respectively. The result shows that the importance evaluation index of the component can reflects its importance in the structure correctly. The components with high importance coefficient are the weak parts of the structure, and their failure will take a great influence on the overall structural overall performance. It plays an important role in the promotion of the structural performance and the ability to resist progressive collapse by strengthening the important components of the structure.
