Abstract: |
A leaf spring suspension is an important part of a commercial automobile and it has important influences on automobile handing stability and ride comfort.Replacing multi-leaf springs with variable cross-section springs is an important trend for reducing vehicle lightweight.Due to the complexity of forming process, the traditional calculation methods are not very precise.Based on the analysis of deformation characteristics of trapezoidal beam element,a new transfer matrix method for stiffness calculation of taper leaf springs is put forward. The stiffness results calculated with a few elements are very close to the precise finite element analysis. At the end,the proposed method is validated with different structures of leaf springs and different calculation methods. |
