Abstract:
Contact-impact problems are very common in engineering fields and are among the most challenging problems in solid/structure mechanics due to its inherent complexity.Over the last three decades, considerable research has been devoted to contact-impact problems, and remarkable progress has been achieved. This review concentrate on the contact algorithms used to simulate contact interface behavior between deformable bodies in the explicit finite element context. The advances in contact-impact algorithm are reviewed and summarized in this paper.Firstly, the contact interface discrete models are introduced briefly.Subsequently, the contact-impact algorithms, including the global contact searching algorithms, the local contact detecting algorithms and the constraint enforcement algorithms are discussed in detail. The main ideas and basic characters of various algorithms are revealed, and their advantages and deficiency are discussed. In addition, the parallel strategies adopted in contact-impact problems are presented and discussed. Finally, some proposals for future investigation are made.
