Abstract: |
The design optimization of an additional elastic support is performed for the fluid-conveying pipe with the fluid-structure interaction by use of the finite element analysis method. In order to mitigate the dynamic response of the pipe system containing flowing liquid and to prevent it from the possible resonance with the pressure variation of the liquid conveyed,an intermediate lateral point support is applied for control of the natural frequency of the system. An efficient way is proposed for quick estimate of the minimum or critical stiffness of the support required for the objective frequency of the system.A straight uniform tubular pipe with both ends pinned is utilized for investigation of the effects of the desired fundamental natural frequency, flow velocity of the liquid and the support position upon the minimum stiffness of the intermediate support, respectively. |
