Abstract:
A method for big system vibration control of tall buildings under earthquakes is studied in the paper.By introducing the decentralized control strategy,an algorithm named Overlapping Decentralized Optimal Control has been derived. Moreover, the strategy combines the Inclusion Principle and Linear Quadratic Regulator Optimal Control and then obtains the overlapping decentralized controllers through extension, decomposition, coordination and contraction.A typical 20-floor seismically excited building is used for analyzing the performance of the control strategy. The results indicate that the overlapping decentralized control strategy could weaken structural seismic response as effectively as centralized control strategy. But the former is superior in guaranteeing the system’s robustness and probability of reliability.Applied in vibration control, the strategy can achieve a reliable control of the seismic action on tall buildings.
