Abstract:
      With GM (geometrical midline) yield criterion,the limit load of simply supported circular plate under linearly distributed load is analyzed,and an analytical solution is obtained.The solution shows that the limit load is a function of circular plate radius a ,radius of the maximum tangential stress location r0 and ultimate bending moment.The limit load calculated by the solution is compared with those based on Tresca,Mises,as well as TSS (Twin Shear Stress) yield criteria.It is shown that Tresca criterion predicts a lower bound of the collapse load,while TSS criterion predicts an upper bound.The limit load based on the GM criterion lies between the TSS and Tresca solutions—most notably,the GM solution is close to Mises solution.The relationship between a and r0 is that:the r0 increases with the increase of a,shows a linear relationship and the appearance locations of r0 are r0=0.7710a and r0=0.5472a respectively.
