Abstract:
      In order to study the local scour around the horizontal cylinder near sand bed,a 2-d numerical model of local scour based on N-S equations and finite volume method is established through the redevelopment in FLUENT code.Firstly,the flow field around the horizontal cylinder is calculated by using standard k-ε equations,and the bed-load transport rate is computed by the selected empirical formula related to the bed shear stress via UDF (user defined function).Then,the bed profile is simulated by means of dynamic mesh.The model is verified by the physical experiment.The results show that the predictions agree well with the experimental results,which certifies the numerical model's reliability.
