Abstract:
The complicated response of two-dimensional thin panels in subsonic flow with external excitation is studied in this paper. The nonlinear governing motion equation is reduced to a series of ordinary differential equations using the Galerkin method. The Runge-Kutta numeric method is used to conduct the numerical simulations. Maximum Lyapunov exponents and Poincaré map are used to judge the motion quality. The results show that with the change of parameters, the system appears complicated response, the periodic windows and chaos occur alternately; the route to chaos is via doubling-period bifurcation but the route from chaos to periodic motion is intermittent.
