Abstract: |
A method controlled by ice thickness was introduced to generate dominant failure modes of a transmission tower. In two conditions, dominant failure modes of a broken down transmission tower in southern China were gotten. The examples showed that th is kind of tower had three weakparts: points of hanging lines, upside braces and upside tower body, and the limit ice thickness of points of hanging lines And upside braces were very close to the designed ice thickness of the tower if 20% unbalance tension existed. The numerical results of failure modes analysis were consistent with the conclusion given by the accident investigation report. |
