Abstract:
Longitudinal flexibility is one of important mechanical properties of a coronary stent. There is still lack of public resource about how to improve stents’ flexibility by means of optimization theory, although some experimental data and numerical researches on stents’ flexibility are available. In this study, MACTM stent is reconstructed as cantilever beam to simulate its bending capacity. The results demonstrate that large strains occur on the LINK component only. Moreover, the local model has outstanding advantage to reduce calculation time than the entire structure model. Based on these findings, an optimization model is built and solved by first-order method of ANSYS. Finally, an optimum design is obtained.
