Abstract:
The analysis of contact stresses and roll system deformation of HC mill are important to improve the distribution of contact force between rolls, reduce the wear of rolls, enhance the service life of rolls, and improve the flatness of strip. Due to the expansive computational costs, the contact and deformation analysis of roll system are very difficult via using the conventional numerical methods, such as FEM or BEM etc. A 3D elastic contact Taylor series multipole BEM with friction is presented base on "node-to-surface" contact model in this paper. The mathematical programming solving method is described, and the new method is suitable for large-scale elastic contact problems. The contact stresses and roll system deformation of HC mill are solved by the presented method. The numerical results show the validity and correctness of 3D elastic contact Taylor series multipole BEM mathematical programming method.
