Abstract:
The classic Pushover analysis procedure depends on the 2-D structural analysis which is inapplicable for asymmetric structures. So, a multiple Pushover analysis method to estimate seismic demands for asymmetric plan structures subjected to bi-directional ground motions is presented. The displacement response of asymmetric plan structures is supposed to equate to the combined responses of modal equivalent systems. The multiple Pushover analysis procedure is proposed, and an example for comparing structural response results of multiple Pushover analysis with the results of nonlinear dynamic time history analysis shows that the multiple Pushover analysis procedure for bi-directional ground motions may be used as an effective seismic demands estimation method for asymmetric plan structures.
