Abstract:
      The curved girder arch bridge is a type of bridge, which takes the advantages of curved girder bridges and arch bridges, i.e. travel comfort and ease of cable layout respectively and can greatly increase the span length of curved bridges. In current study, the reasonable state under the permanent load was investigated for this type of bridge firstly. Then, with experience of adjusting the cable forces in cable-stayed bridges and designing reasonable arch axis for arch bridges, a practical design method is proposed. Moreover, on the application of a quadratic programming method for constraint relaxation, and of a reduction method for re-analysis to the stiffness matrix, the convergence and solving speed are improved. Finally, a real curved girder arch bridge was studied and some specific problems were indicated for practical design, providing background concepts for practical applications.
