Abstract:
      A numerical simulation of the flow past a diamond cylinder with different aspect ratio 1/3, 1 and 3 which is able to oscillate transversely to the incident stream, are presented in this paper for a fixed Reynolds number equal to 100. The 2D unsteady Navier-Stokes equations are solved by a finite volume method. The flow structures, coefficient of drag and lift and Strouhal number have been discussed based on the transient numerical analysis results for different aspect ratio. The simulation results like flow structure, drag coefficient, lift coefficient and Strouhal numbers, in good agreement with available published data, which supplies us with a good understanding of the flow of diamond cylinder with different axis ratios at low Reynolds number. To gain a better understanding of the flow around diamond cylinder, 3D numerical study of diamond cylinder with more varying AR at different Reynolds numbers should be conducted.
