Abstract:
      A new reliability-based optimization method of structures with fuzzy and interval variables is presented. Based on possibilistic reliability theory, a hybrid reliability model of structures with fuzzy and interval variables is developed. The maximum failure possibility is utilized as the measurement of structural reliability with the variables. The calculation methods for the maximum failure possibility are given. Moreover, by regarding the hybrid model reliability as constraints, the reliability-based optimization model is established. A numerical example illustrates the feasibility and validity of the new method.
