Abstract:
A method of prioritizing sensor locations for health monitoring in latticed shell structure is presented. It is based on the harmony between damage identifiability and modal observability. First of all, an object function was set up including the information of mode independence and damage sensitivity. In addtion, the number of modes affects greatly optimum sensor placement which is based on an analysis of damage sensitivity, hence, the reasonable number of modes would be decided. After that, a multiple objective optimization algorithm for sensor locations is proposed with the criterion of minimum condition number of coefficient matrix and maximum 2-norm of the fisher information matrix. The numerical example of a latticed shell structure shows that this approach effectively provide references for optical sensor placement of the latticed shell structure.
