Abstract:
Designing wind velocity in many regions used for structural wind resistance design, usually adopt the maximum wind velocity in a thunderstorm downburst. Nevertheless wind velocities profile caused by downburst differs significantly from codes guided aero boundary layer winds, which leads to that design wind velocity doesn’t match wind field. After verification of exactness of CFD results by comparing with scaled and full scale experimental results, detailed research was conducted. Studies on both horizontal and vertical wind velocity profiles, varying with different thunderstorm downbursts factors, were accomplished, and the detailed characteristics of downbursts wind filed were approached. Finally the empirical models of horizontal and vertical wind velocity were established, and it describes the space distribution of three dimensional wind velocity, and verified by the CFD simulations, experimental and field test results. These model also give a solid theory foundation for structural thunderstorm downburst wind resisting design.
