Abstract: |
Elbow bends are necessary parts of pipes, which have an important influence on the flow field of the corner and later sections. Guide vanes are always employed in elbow bends. The influences on the flow field with & without guide vanes were simulated and compared using RNG k-ε turbulent model. The improved 1/4-circle-shaped guide vanes were considered, which had different tail length and different dispositions. The numerical simulation showed that: ① guide vanes can improve the velocity uniformity, reduce the turbulent kinetic energy and decrease the secondary flow; ② 1/4-circle-shaped guide vanes with tails are better than no tail; ③ ratios of vane spacing to chord length between 0.15~0.25 is better; ④ non-equivalent vane spacing shows less improvement than equivalent ones; ⑤ the attack angles of -4 and +4° have less influence on the quality of the flow field. |
