Abstract:
The modeling method and strategy were investigated in the theoretical frame of concurrent multi-scale modeling of structural behavior (CMSM-of-SB) in which the global structural behavior and features of local details in a large complicated structure could be considered simultaneously in order to meet the structural health monitoring (SHM) and damage assessment. In the proposed modeling method, the "large-scale" modeling is adopted for the global structure and the "small-scale" modeling is adopted for the critical locations. Considering the shortcoming of some existing finite element software which are not able to implement the modeling of CMSM-of-SB, the substructure technology in finite element method was introduced and some improvements on the traditional substructure technology were provided to incorporate the mathematical description of the modeling of CMSM-of-SB on the basis of the substructure method.
