Abstract:
The expansion and fracture of ductile metal ring are simulated by LS-DYNA 3D finite element program. In the simulation, the fracture nucleation points are added as Poisson random distribution on circumference of expanding ring, the Johnson-Cook constitutive equation is chosen. The necking time, the comparison of temperature, stress and strain between necking region and non-necking region are used to analyze the necking formation mechanism. The influence of fracture nucleation point on fracture is also discussed in the paper. The good agreement with the experimental and theoretical results shows that the method of adding Poisson random distribution on circumference of expanding ring is rational.
