Abstract:
      Based on the discrete particle model of granular materials and particle flow method, the factors which is related to jamming during the discharge of granular materials from a silo are investigated by numerical approach, curves of jamming probability vs. the opening diameter and the slope angle of silo, the frictional coefficient and particle size distribution of granular materials are presented. Moreover, the effect of particle shape is explored by construction of cluster. Additionally, the characteristic of forces chains in granular materials when jamming appears is briefly analyzed.
