Abstract:
As for the analysis of labyrinth seal rotordynamics, the two-control-volume model is an efficient approach that is applied well. This paper starts with three relative governing equations, which aretransformed into two dimensionless equations through a nondimensionalized process. It contains a zeroth-order equation, through which a steady fluid distribution is determined, and a first-order equation, through which the seal’s rotordynamic coefficients can be acquired. Since the first-order equation is formulated with matrix form, the relevant operation becomes very simple. The improved approach in this paper has a clearer model and a more concise algorithm than the previous one. Finally compared with results from traditional model, the results of current model are accurate and effective. And then a series of investigations, analysing the influence of some seal parameters upon the rotordynamic coefficients, reveal some useful and practical rules.
