Abstract:
A model of Rolling-Sliding Contact on Variable Curvature surface has been established based on Hertz theory.Local coordinates are constructed on different contact points because of curvature of contact surface is not constant and then distributions of residual stresses and strains are given.A numerical approach for elastic-plastic analysis and shakedown is presented and its application to rolling-sliding contact is demonstrated. The numerical approach consists of an operator split technique, which transforms the elastic-plastic problem into a purely elastic problem and a residual problem with prescribed eigenstrains. The eigenstrains are determined using an incremental projection method.Shakedown limited of different contact point is computed, relation between shakedown and curvature and relation between shakedown and coefficient of friction are given. The results are in agreement with Johnson's results.
