Abstract:
The dynamic response of a beam resting on poroelastic half-space soil medium subjected to moving loads was studied analytically/numerically under conditions of plane strain. The full dynamic poroelastic theory of Biot was employed, under the assumption of incompressible solid grain and neglecting the apparent mass density. The loading function was presented by a Fourier series expansion. The action between the beam and ground surface was taken into account while analyzing the system.By using the boundary condition at the surface of the soil, the governing equations of motion were then solved. The effect of elastic beam on the vertical displacement of soil were discussed under different parameters such as beam stiffness, load speed and coefficient of permeability.Numerical results of the vertical displacements of soil are given and indicate that the stiffness of the beam has pretty large effect on the response of the soil.
