Abstract: |
In the near-shore,the irregular sea bed and coast line could wave shoaling, wave refraction, diffraction, reflection, and so on,which may wave energy distribute unevenly, and may influence of wave power devices. In this paper a boundary element method based on small-amplitude wave theory and linear potential theory are utilized to study the topographic effects on hydrodynamic characteristics of shore-mounted wave-power devices.Numerical results have shown that the effects of topography nearby the device are quite great and can not be neglected. Some harbor-like topographies can be made use of to increase the efficiency of the shore-mounted wave-power devices. The theory adopted in this paper does not impose restrictions on the topography near the device, which provides an effective method simulating the fluid flow field nearby the device with complicated topography. The method proposed in this paper has been proved useful for practical engineering to design wave-power stations. |
