Abstract:
The flow field inside an oil-gas separator are simulated with Discret Phase Model(DPM).Based on the analysis of the numerical results, find that, besides the centrifugal force, the collision of the oil droplets on the wall and the velocity distribution at the exit plane of the primary separator are also important factors to the oil-gas separation efficiency.According to the above analysis, modifications have bean made to the structure of the separator. With the modified design, the oil carry-over rate is reduced from 7ppm down to 3ppm in succeeding engineering tests, and it proves that our numerical model is valid in this type of computations, and the analysis of the flow mechanism is also correct.
