Abstract: |
In this paper,3D finite element analyses are performed to obtain the J integral value of crack repaired by bonded composite patch by considering the 3D stress state of patch crack. The study shows that the J-integral value is varied alone the thickness and the value of unpatched side is much higher than that of patched side. The crack face profile of the patched and unpatched model is quite different. The relationship between J-integral value and crack length is linear in the repaired model while it is quadratic in the unpatched model. The effect of the adhesive properties on the variation of the J-integral value at the crack tip is highlighted. The effects of adhesive and patch thickness on J are also highlighted. In order to increase the performance of the patch repair or reinforcement, the adhesive properties, the thickness of adhesive and patch must be optimized. |
