Abstract:
The seepage problem of fluids through porous media is one of the key issues of rock mass hydromechanics. Trefftz indirect method (i.e. Trefftz-type BEM or TBEM), which was used in this paper, has its advantages over traditional FEM and BEM, because it avoids the difficulty of singular integral and the inconvenience of mesh modifications. The program of TBEM is simpler and takes less computer time, compared with traditional FEM and BEM. Steady seepage and unsteady seepage with a free surface in a uniform dam were analyzed in the paper. In comparison with experimental data, numerical results show that the present method has satisfactory convergence and accuracy.
