Abstract:
      A compact fourth-order finite difference with a second-order fully implicit time-marching scheme is proposed to solve the two-dimensional unsteady convection diffusion equation with variable coefficients. A multigrid full approximation scheme( FAS) is applied to accelerate the convergence for the implicit difference scheme at each time step. Numerical experiments are employed to show that the present method is stable and yields highly approximate solution for high Reynolds number problems.
