Abstract:
In order to investigate the reliability of structures with the non-probabilistic convex model theory, the uncertain variables are quantified using the convex set. By doing so, the reliability analysis of structures can be conducted by means of optimization or anti-optimization schemes without the knowledge of the statistic information of the uncertain variables. A counter example shows that mistakes may exist in Ben-Haim's theory on the robust reliability. And a new robust reliability criterion based on the non-probabilistic convex model theory was given by using the partial order relation of the superscribed hyperrectangle or interval vectors of convex models. A simple numerical example shows the correctness and feasibility of the proposed criterion on the non-probabilistic robust reliability.
