Abstract: |
A finite spring model is used to simulate the mesoscopic failure processes in the reinforced concrete. The reinforced concrete prisms with square cross section are analyzed using two\|dimensional analytical models. The specimen is divided into small elements using the concept of Voronoi polygons, and the elements are assumed to be the rigid bodies connected by the normal and tangential springs. Special attention is given to modeling the lug geometry on reinforcing bars and the direct interaction at the steel\|concrete interface, that the mesoscopic behavior in the vicinity of a deformed bar can be well simulated. |
