| Abstract: |
| Several used measures for the tetrahedral element quality are briefly reviewed. These quality measures are considered to be equivalent in some weak sense over a long period of time. However, the numerical tests in this paper indicate that using different measures to evaluate the change of element shape will probably lead to inconsistent result sometimes, therefore, that effect on the mesh optimization procedure and optimal solution. For this reason, careful study and test on quality measures applied should be performed in the mesh generation and mesh optimization. |
