Abstract: |
The aim of this paper is to develop a fast and easy numeri cal method b y FEM, dealing with the cable-sliding problem in cable structures. Based on the precise analytical solution of elastic catenary, the two-point catenary elemen t was used to model the cables in cable structures. Cooperated with Newton metho d, the Continuation method was used to solve the non-linear equations. By which a fast method was built to get the stiffness matrix of cable under the given unstreched length. This method can quickly approach the answers from the initial value, and extend the boud of initial value. Moreover, it is more efficient tha n Newton method. Based on them, the Dichotomy method was used to solve the cable -sliding, the corresponding program was developed, and the examples confirmed its correctness and efficience.The methods in this paper can be used in the desi gn and construction of cable structures. |
