Abstract:
      Based on the results of flow rate optimization, a met hod to determine the approximate feasible space for single gate was proposed in this paper. Numerical simu lation of injection mold filling process is combined with the design optimizati on method to find the optimum injection rate for two given gates to achieve bal anced flow. The objective function is expressed in terms of the maximum and min imum times of boundary filling. Design sensitivities are evaluated using the fi nite difference method and the optimization model is solved with SLP algorithm. The resistance for polymer melt advancing in the cavity can be determined acco rding to the optimum injection rate and the approximate feasible space for sing le gate was determined accordingly. Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effect of the proposed method.
