Abstract:
At the triple junction the elastic strain energy concentration caused by external stresses depends on both the orientations of the component grain and the loading directions. For a loading direction parallel to the triple junction, the elastic strain energy concentration is usually large. For a loading direction perpendicular to the triple junction, the elastic strain energy concentration is complex; in some case, elastic strain energy dispersion can occur but, in other case, the elastic strain energy concentration is much larger than that with the loading direction parallel to the triple junction.
