Abstract:
Some problems concerning the adjusting factors used in Thompson method for generation of curvilinear grid is pointed out. By the principle of streamlines being orthogonal to equipotential curves in potential flow theory, a new expression of the adjusting factors is derived. Some curvilinear grid generation examples show that the proposed adjusting factors ideal grids can be formed for simple connected regions and connected regions with complex boundary. The curvilinear grids near boundaries are orthogonal and the interior grids can be adaptive to the variation of physical parameters of fluid.
