| The potential limitations of numerical procedures in computing the strain and stress of structures subjected to impact loading and their roots are investigated with analysis and numerical examples in this paper. Inaccurate stress and strain results of structures when large rotations are involved may be obtained using nonlinear dynamic codes, such as LS DYNA3D. No maintaining incremental stress update objectivity is main reasons. These deficiencies of the codes available should be improved. |
