Abstract:
      This paper presents a new method of analyzing locomotive lateral stability, that is, the critical velocity is calculated by use of the complex mode matrix perturbation theory. In this method, the repeated calculation of the matrix's eigenvalues is avoided, so the calculating time is reduced. The numerical results indicate that this method is very accurate.
