Abstract:
The bending problems of composite shells of revolution subject to various loading condition are solved by the finite element method and Fourier series expansion in this paper. The shell is cut and carved in the longitudinal and thickness direction, and all physical varibles are expanded to Fourier series in circumferential direction of the shell on the basis of its geometric axial symmetry. The element employed herein is a six noded isoparametric element with 3 degrees of freedom per node, which involved the effect of shear and pressed deformations in thickness direction, and is capable of calculating the pressed stresses. Numerical examples show that the present method is of good convergency and accuracy.
