Abstract:
      HT5SS]FEM coupled with Biot consolidation theory is used to investigate the behaviors of deep excavation in saturated soft clay. Typical example of multi\|stage excavation is analyzed to study the negative excess pore pressures and the consolidation effects on the soil displacements during and after excavation. The influences of the rate of excavation are also investigated. Finally a deep excavation case is presented.
