Abstract:
This paper deals with the theoretical simulation and experimental measurement on the wheel/rail impact vibrations that widely occur in railway engineering. A vehicle/track interaction model is built, according to the theory of vehicle track coupling dynamics. The vehicle is modeled as a multibody dynamic system and the track is described as a discretely supported beam structure. A computer program, VICT, is designed to simulate numerical responses of the wheel/rail systems due to impact excitations. A full scale field experiment is performed on the wheel/rail impact vibrations at a rail joint. Good correlation is obtained between the experiment data and the simulation results.
