Abstract:
      An approximate method is developed for linear buckling analysis of cooling tower shell attached to a beam system. The generalized nodal displacements and forces of the beam system are approximately transformed into their harmonic series. Let the 2nd variation of total energy be equal to zero. Linearizing the resulting equations leads to generalized eigenvalue problem for linear buckling analysis. Good numerical results are obtained with less CPU time and data input. The developed theoretical analysis and computer program for personal computer have been used in practical design of cooling tower.
