A new automatic matrix force method in which the strength of structural members is contained is developed based on the matrix force method. Then according to this method and the characters of engineering structural systems, a new approach of enumerating significant failure medes of a structural system is presented in this paper. This approach can be employed to enumerating significant failure modes simply and effectively.
