| Abstract: |
| A new model of three dimensional wall element including shear-wall which is very often used in building design is presented. This new element is based on quadrilateral shell element with automatic refinement function. This basic model of wall is a combination of spatial membrane with drilling degree of freedom and bending plate. So each node of the element has all six degrees of freedom, which makes it easy to join wall with three dimensional frame. Since the contribution of the stiffness in plane and flexural stiffness out of plane are both considered, this new wall element can be directly joined with any three dimensional beam or column. It can be easily used to deal with spatial deformation of wall with or with out opennings. |
