Abstract:
      A new method to analyse the stability of ring-stiffened cylindrical shells is proposed.The method is referred to as the Compound Strip Method(CSM).CSM can take into accountthe effect of transverse stiffeners and consider the influence of the eccentricity of stiffeners.It is a substructure technique. Numerical examples show that CSM possesses very high accu-racy and efficiency.It is an ideal method to analyse the stiffened plate and shell structures.CSM is capable of calculating not only the general but also the local critical buckling loads ofring-stiffened cylindrical shells.
