Abstract:
      The nonlinear stability of the space frame-composite laminate plate combined structures is studied by nonlinear finite element method.The space frame is separated as space beam-column elements,the laminate plate is separated as composite laminate plate elements,geo-metric nonlinearity and the orthotropic property of the plate by layers are taking into ac-count.In the nonlinear analysis, the size of the load increment at the first iteration is con-trolled and the arc-length method is used in the iterations to traverse the limit point.Several examples are analysed and some conclusions that are useful for engineering design are ob-tained.
