Abstract:
      Based on Kirchhoff' s thin plate theory, a new panel element suitable for the structural analysis of continuous plates with arbitrary supports is presented in this paper. The panel displacement function is chosen to be such that the governing partial differential equation is satisfied within the element and the boundary conditions are approximated by Fourier series withlinear supplementary terms. The effect of inner supports is also included during the panelformulation . Numerical examples demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method.
